Sean Russell
Sean Russell, a performing songwriter hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, is known for his unique style of soul and blues with an earthy singer/songwriter tone. Make no mistake, he may commonly pay tribute to his influences such as SRV,Clapton and Wes Montgomery, but Sean Russell has a unique "style for the times" approach to original music. Sean began as all players do working for many acts both original and cover. After taking a job with a house band at a popular tourist attraction in Pittsburgh he quickly became disenchanted and decided to leave the music scene to concentrate on writing. In June of 2004 while visiting renowned Pittsburgh drummer Doug Deets in Philadelphia, Sean met performing/songwriter Jason Deutsch and soon joined his band Original Low. With Jason's encouragement Sean became more comfortable with his vocals resulting in Sean's first go as a solo artist. Sean is currently working on new material for his debut EP. Stay tuned for more news and tour dates.
The past six months or so of writing has produced 6 or 7 new songs. I will begin recording in late April. The writing as taken a much more earthy feel than the songs off of Discount Superhero. I'm very excited to show a different side of me writing and performing. Please stay tuned!
Every now and then an artist
comes along that I just cant seem
to get enough of. Sean Russell is
one of them. His song Train of Fools has a mystery
about it as it travels through my brain everyday. With
lyrics like Hair in her face, she says that it keeps her
safe you can follow the pictures in his mind as he
talks you through his lives journeys.
The clean quality of the recording lends itself to easy
listening. Seans level of musicianship is obvious as he
tears up the track with a blazing guitar that drips
honey. If you have not listened to Sean Russell, I
suggest I stop here and let you hear for yourself.
